Hey y’all, howdy.
I’m Rhonda and I’d like to introduce you to my best friend and life partner, Dan. I met Dan when I was 1300 miles from home, about to start my first trip as a newly licensed Commercial driver in training in Salt Lake City, UT.
It was “best friends” at first site. Dan was already a full time, over the road driver going mostly East and West. After training I took a full time, over the road, solo driver route that kept me primarily going North and South. We talked on the phone for hours almost every day while we were on our separate routes. We managed to cross paths once or twice a week sometimes. It was awesome. I loved being solo on the road. I felt so empowered and accomplished. It’s true, though, that every difficult turn I maneuvered successfully, every interesting site I saw, every funny story or frustrating incident, I always wanted to tell Dan first.
We eventually decided to team up, and we have been inseparable since. We’ve crisscrossed the country working and visiting as many interesting places as we could manage. The first interesting place Dan and I visited was the Illiana Motor Speedway in Indiana. The track has since closed but it was awesome.
Dan is a Racejunky from way back. He started attending races near his hometown of Oakcreek, WI. His first track was Hales Corners Speedway, in Hales Corner, WI. He started enjoying races there starting from the age of 8 or 9 years old. By the age of 15 Dan got a job, parking cars, on race nights. Dan also enjoyed Lake Geneva Speedway and Slinger Speedway
Eventually, Dan moved to Winston Salem, NC and there he frequented Bowman Grey Speedway. Since 2020, we have been mostly settled here in San Antonio. TX where Dan has frequented I37 Speedway. Most recently Dan has worked as the “Fuel Guy” there at I37 but this Season, Dan is thrilled to announce that he is a Camera Guy for RaceOnTexas.com
